Foundation techniques Verstraeten BV has made the foundation poles for the highest municipal office in the Netherlands
Last year Foundation techniques Verstraeten BV have installed foundation poles for the municipal office in Utrecht. The Utrecht Municipal Offices includes 66,000 m2 and is one of the largest buildings that is built from mid-2011 in the Netherlands. The municipal office will act as a central point where the citizens of Utrecht can go for almost all municipal services and products. With a maximum height of 92 meters, the municipal office is the highest and soon one of the largest municipal offices in the Netherlands.
The installation of the poles was commissioned by the combined construction SKU, a collaboration between VolkerWessels companies Boele & Eesteren and of G & S Construction.
Total installed:
- 296 units of Fundex piles grout injection, 540/670 mm;
- 12 units of Tubex grout injection piles with limited working height 457/670 mm;
- 51 units of Tubex stilts with grout injection, 720/950 mm.
The drilling depth ranged from 26.5 m to 33.5 m. In particular, the large Tubex piles were drilled to a depth that is unique to the city of Utrecht. The poles have a tax ranging from 5,000 kN to 9,500 kN.
The Fundex piles with grout injection were drilled from an excavated pit. For the excavation was a water sealing layer made by a glass of water injection. All Fundex poles are drilled through the glass of water injection layer, without any problems. A unique achievement for a unique project.
